Areas of Expertise: Wildlife habitat and conservation advocacy, community engagement, incentive-based conservation, nonprofit management, environmental law, and public policy
Heather is responsible for leading advocacy efforts for the critically endangered Red Wolf. She works with local communities, landowners, as well as state and federal lawmakers and regulatory agencies to promote and support the Red Wolf recovery program in eastern North Carolina.
Heather joined Defenders after receiving her law degree, and she brings more than six years of conservation advocacy and public policy experience from her time working with various conservation organizations in South Carolina. She has served on multiple committees for hunting and fishing conservation organizations, and also was nominated to serve on the City of Columbia’s Blue Ribbon Animal Committee. Additionally, Heather has extensive leadership experience, and directs a multi-state animal welfare organization in her “free time.”
Heather holds a J.D. from the University of South Carolina School of Law in Columbia, S.C., and a B.A. in political science and environmental studies from USC.
