Eric Clewis is responsible for Defenders of Wildlife’s wolf conservation efforts in Montana, Idaho, and Wyoming. Through policy change, advocacy, and wolf-livestock conflict reduction, his work is centered around ensuring wolves have a place in the landscape of the northern Rocky Mountains.

Eric holds a degree in wildlife biology from the University of Montana and his past experience includes working in a wide array of natural resource fields in a variety of landscapes throughout the West and his native home state of Texas. Through his work in wildland firefighting, landscape restoration, and wildlife biology for state and federal agencies in addition to nonprofits, Eric has been able to effectively work with diverse partners to collaborative on contentious issues such as predator management and the policy/management issues that surround those species.
