Michael Saul directs Defenders’ efforts to protect native fish and wildlife in their natural habitat across the central and northern Rockies and Great Plains.

Michael has over twenty years of experience in wildlife and public lands law and policy in the mountain west and Great Plains. Michael has worked for over twenty years advocating for native wildlife within planning and conservation efforts including greater sage-grouse habitat management, wildlife conservation programs in the Platte River and Colorado River watersheds, Colorado wildlife protection rulemaking, and Colorado’s gray wolf restoration campaign. He has authored reports and papers on sage-grouse conservation, public land management, and climate change mitigation.

Michael holds a B.A. from Yale College and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
