Washington, D.C.

A draft Supreme Court decision on Dobbs v. Jackson was released by Politico late Monday night. If adopted, this decision would overturn Roe v. Wade, which constitutionally protects access to abortions. In response, Former Defenders of Wildlife President and CEO Jamie Rappaport Clark issued the following statement:

“Defenders of Wildlife believes it is a fundamental right to make your own personal health decisions. If the Supreme Court overturns Roe v. Wade, it will have long-term consequences for women’s health, equity and democracy. A woman’s right to choose what happens to her own body is unequivocal. If taken away, other intrinsic rights are at grave risk as well.

“In solidarity, we support those fighting to ensure safe access to healthcare and a woman’s right to choose.”
