Defenders of Wildlife went to court today to defend Colorado's historic effort to reintroduce wolves to the state in a lawsuit filed by Gunnison County Stockgrowers’ Association, Inc. and Colorado Cattlemen’s Association.

Defenders released the following statement in reaction to today’s hearing, which ended without a ruling:

“The imminent return of wolves to Colorado represents the hard-earned culmination of years of collaboration among the state, the federal government, and numerous representatives from the conservation and ranching communities,” said Michael Saul, Rockies and Plains Program Director at Defenders of Wildlife. “The lawful path forward is clear, and it includes wolf pawprints in the snow this winter. We will not relent in our efforts to ensure the timely return of this keystone species to Colorado’s mountains.”
