Defenders of Wildlife was in court yesterday to defend Colorado's historic effort to reintroduce gray wolves to the state in a lawsuit filed by Gunnison County Stockgrowers’ Association, Inc. and Colorado Cattlemen’s Association.

Defenders released the following statement in reaction to today’s ruling:

“The imminent return of wolves to Colorado represents the hard-earned culmination of years of collaboration among the state, the federal government, and numerous representatives from the conservation and ranching communities,” said Michael Saul, Rockies and Plains Program Director at Defenders of Wildlife. “We are thrilled that Colorado’s state-led wolf reintroduction program will continue to move forward despite these last-minute, flimsy attempts to sabotage this historic effort. We will have paws on the ground this winter and that is something we can all applaud.”
