United States Representative Jim Moran announced today that he will retire after two decades as Congressman for the eighth district in the state of Virginia.  Congressman Moran has been an outspoken advocate for the environment and wildlife conservation. The following is a statement from Defenders of Wildlife former president and CEO Jamie Rappaport Clark:

“Congressman Moran is truly a champion of conservation and the nation’s wildlife. He has worked tirelessly to protect our nation’s natural lands, preserve the integrity of the Endangered Species Act from congressional attacks and support funding for key wildlife programs, particularly when basic funding for essential species-saving programs was at greatest risk. His legacy of conservation leadership will be remembered for decades to come. Mr. Moran will be greatly missed.”
