Defenders of Wildlife’s President & CEO Jamie Rappaport Clark released the following statement in reaction to a Minnesota jury finding former police officer Derek Chauvin guilty on all three counts in the death of George Floyd:

“Today’s guilty verdicts in the trial of Derek Chauvin for the killing of George Floyd are important steps in addressing centuries of injustice and systemic racism in America. Defenders of Wildlife expresses its support for the Floyd family and hopes that these convictions lead to healing in the Minneapolis community. We hope this represents a step towards real structural change in our country, and we will continue to use our voice to stand for justice and bringing communities together.”
