Defenders of Wildlife President and CEO Andrew Bowman, issued the following statement honoring longtime wildlife and environmental ally Representative Raúl Grijalva (D-AZ) who passed away yesterday:
“Defenders is enormously saddened by the tragic passing of Rep. Raúl Grijalva who was a fierce champion and tenacious defender of our nation’s wildlife and natural resources. During his tenure as Chair of the House Natural Resources Committee he served an example for all who are striving to create a healthier and more resilient environment for future generations. Rep. Grijalva’s legacy will live on in the enormous impact that he had on our nation’s laws and the people he inspired to make our country a better place. Our thoughts go out to Rep. Grijalva’s family, friends and loved ones.”
