Each year Defenders of Wildlife selects four outstanding individuals in the areas of science, public policy, citizen advocacy and lifetime achievement and honors their contributions at our annual awards dinner.  This year the ceremony was hosted by Defenders board member and TV personality, Jeff Corwin and also attended by Ashley Judd, another member of Defenders board, who was one of the presenters this year.

Defenders of Wildlife had the great honor of recognizing Dr Terry Root for her tireless dedication and research towards global warming;  Dr Michael Scott for his unparalleled work with science in public policy; and Joel Sartore, a renowned photographer who has worked diligently in the area of citizen advocacy by allowing people to see through his photographs the wonder of the natural world and the impacts we are having on it.  And lastly we are proud to award the Honorable John Dingell, the longest serving member in the history of the House of Representatives,  our Lifetime Achievement Award for being a champion towards environmental issues over his illustrious career.

Defenders would once again like to congratulate this year’s award winners for their outstanding contributions towards defending wildlife!
